I am excited to once again be doing a guest spot in the dungeons at Haunted Design House with the Masters and Mistresses of the Dark Arts. The theme this month is ‘May I Have a Quick Word?’……so your project needs to have a word/words in it or was a quick make which took less than a day to create.
I chose the ‘word’ aspect of the theme for my project – a mounted demon skull:
The plaque is made from wood, painted with black gesso with some red Media Mister spray splats and some white Deco Art antiquing cream around the edges.
The demon skull started as a plain paper mache skull. I made the horns from Silk Clay which I glue gunned in place once they had dried. The whole thing was painted with white gesso and I added a tiny amount of beige acrylic with a dry brush to take away the starkness of the white. Once dry I coated it all with Rock Candy Distress Crackle and left it to do it’s thing. Once the cracks had appeared I took some black Distress Ink and used foam to apply, wiping away the excess leaving it in the cracks.
Out came the glue gun again to fix the skull to the plaque – all that was needed was my word….I painted a cardboard label with copper Dazzling Metallics paint and added Patina Green Antiquing Cream, wiping the excess away when dry. I used black Archival Ink to stamp the word ‘Demon’ and added some square metal brads to look like nails.
I hope you are inspired to join in the madness that is Macabre Mondays at Haunted Design House…………

Wow this is a fab project. I would love to make one of these for Halloween
Love how easy it is these days to turn cardboard into metal – we’ll be turning lead in to gold pretty soon, if it doesn’t crackle our own heads first (to let the horns grow out!)
This is just WOW. You have outdone yourself. A pleasure to have you on board. 😛 x
