Quoth The Raven, ‘Nevermore’

I was clicking around the internet yesterday and came across Simply Steampunk Challenges. I love steampunk and I love challenges so I decided to have a go. The current theme is ‘Create your own background’. It’s been a while since I did this so it was great to get my inks out and play around.

It was also a great excuse to use some new stamps from Visible Image.

For my background I die cut a circle to use as a mask for the moon, then applied Broken China, Dusty Concorde, Faded Jeans, and Weathered Wood Distress Inks to create the night sky. I then removed the mask and stamped the bats (from the Edward Is Immortal set) with black Memento ink.

Across the bottom I stamped the fence (from the Isabella Lost Love set) and barbed wire (from the Molly Rules set). I rubbed some Antique Gold mica powder over the darker areas of the background to add a metallic sheen (which is hard to photograph!)

I used my Spectrum Noir pens to colour the image of Edgar:

Clothes: IG2, 4, 6, 8, LV1, 2, EB1, 2

Raven: GG3, 4, JG1, 3, 6, 7

Skin/ Hair: TN3, FS5, CR1 EB2, 6, 7

I then cut around him and used 3d foam to attach him to my card.
